:: AKC Canine Good Citizen Certification & Refresher Course
The Canine Good Citizen Test is an assessment of your dog’s overall temperament and obedience. We will test for handling, loose leash walking, and knowledge of basic commands among other things. The CGC is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. To receive the CGC certificate, the dogs must pass a 10 item test. All dogs who pass the CGC test will receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club and will be automatically recorded in the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen archive. With that you will also receive a CGC certificate for your records. Receiving your CGC certification is the first step in having your dog become a therapy dog.
If you have already gone through AA or BS class and would like to schedule a time to be tested, please contact us. We will also offer a 1 hour refresher course for those who feel they need a little extra practice before the test. The test will be offered the first Saturday of every month at 9am and the Refresher Course will be third Saturday of every month at 9am.
For rescue groups: we will drop the testing price to $10 for any dog in your rescue that you wish to take through CGC certification in order to make them more adoptable.
