:: Howlin' Antlers

While on our vacation in Alaska, we met with an Alaskan artisan, specializing in all sorts of carvings made out of Caribou and Deer Antlers.  Every year in the month of September he leaves for a two, sometimes three month trip out into the coldest part of Alaska, nearing Antarctic, where he collects all the naturally shed antlers that fill the rivers and outskirts.  In the freezing cold, he collects racks and racks of these antlers, bringing them back to his workshop where he hand carves knife handles, animal figures, and furniture to sell to tourists.

We saw a huge opportunity here!  And that was, to buy his scrap pieces, and recycle them into chews for dogs.  Deer antlers are the newest and hottest products in dog chews, and many companies are importing them from as far as New Zealand.  However, many of them kill the Deer for their antlers.

So, just three hours before our departure, we met with the artisan to discuss this opportunity.  He was thrilled!  He was so excited, and first hand vouched for how much his own dog's loved them, and he was so happy that we were able to make use of every piece, paying off his hard work!

Here we are now with our own line of Deer and Caribou Antlers for Dogs, called Howlin' Antlers. Howlin' Antlers are naturally shed many of which still have the actual velvet still on them. The dogs love these the most!
